Blue Bracken

Solemn boy on wood.
I slightly dyed the wood with tea and coffee to get a better base color before I started painting on it. Dry pastels and, my old faithful, propelling graphite pen.
I have painted on raw wood before, Audrey Kawasaki was the first painter I saw who mastered the medium.

Currently very busy working on getting Candy Cain ready for print, working on other artworks, preparing reprints of sold out fanzines and planning for ConCom vol.4 etc etc... @___@
Recently I've been asked for prints, and I'm really glad that people are interested! I'll update here once I've got it all figured out.
With all this going on, I will sadly not be able to attend SPX, Sweden's biggest comic festival for known and unknown comic artists. But no worries, one of my works will be represented anyways... I'll leave you with a cliffhanger on that, more to come later... ;3

  5. Thanks for the comments everyone!

@ La Abela: I simply "dipped" the wood into tea and coffee mixed water, giving it more lusture and a softer base color to work on. It was previously very bright, beige wood.

  7. Love the color palette you used for this. I've used colored pencils on raw wood but never pastels. How do you set them?

  19. I'm following you now, me (& family) are big anime & manga (let's through graphic novels in too) fans.. actually last month we went to SupaNova (Brisbane Australia) and the had artists, actors (voice & live) writers etc etc, soo much to see & do!! Yes love your drawing for PPF (it's my first time taking part & enjoying it HEAPS) My 16 year old constantly draws manga characters, she said they come in her dreams & all have a story, she is writing & illustrating each one, has been for over a year, hoping for a series of interlocking stories, it's fascinating as she doesn't do any art at school, just sciences, but manga, she breathes manga... I will show her your work, I am smitten by your boy (& other art posted here)!!
